This was one of the books we read when we were considering homschooling our kids. The sheer variety of homeschooling practices among these families is breathtaking — and encouraging! A must must-read if you are considering whether homeschooling is right for your family, or if you are curious as to what all this is about.

A great account of one family’s journey to a different way of thinking about education, and the source of one of my favorite quotes: “Slowly, without our realizing it, we had discovered a profound truth about education: we did not need to know everything, we simply had to have a desire to help one another learn together.” So true! and for more than just homeschooling….

Miller is a 6th grade teacher who knows that a love of reading reading is caught from enthusiasm and abundance, that “no day is wasted. We can always move forward by reading and writing” — and who has the research to back it up.
